COVID-19 has left its mark on almost every aspect of life and became one of the biggest global concerns in 2020. Even though the Vietnamese government and citizens have successfully brought the pandemic under control, its far-reaching impact on society is undeniable.
A tough year with strenuous efforts
Come rain or shine, improving the living standards of the community is always a top priority for Carlsberg Vietnam, especially in the central region where many households are still struggling to find stable water supply for basic domestic usage. Since 2019, the Huda brand has worked with local authorities to solve the water crisis through the implementation of the long-term corporate social responsibility initiative “Fresh Water for Beloved Central” in the central provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, and Quang Tri.
After only two years, the programme has managed to provide access to clean water for as many as 15,000 people, enhancing their daily lives and agricultural production significantly.
Along with this long-term initiative, Carlsberg Vietnam has been firmly committed to annual donations to the disadvantaged in the central region. In 2020, Huda partnered with several local television channels in Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, and Quang Tri to reach out to all the people in need and deliver assistance in time. Additionally, just before the New Year’s Eve, 9,000 care packages from Carlsberg Vietnam were distributed among the underprivileged as a token of appreciation to the homeland and as small gifts to share the traditional joy.
Besides practical contributions to better the quality of everyday life for citizens, Carlsberg Vietnam’s efforts in promoting socio-cultural values in the central region have left a profound impression on the participants. In 2020, in cooperation with local authorities, Huda organised a series of football tournaments in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, and Quang Tri with the aim of re-kindling the sporting spirit, honouring age-old customs, and strengthening bonds within communities. Receiving an enthusiastic welcome by the people, the tournaments ended with roaring success and added more vibrant colours to the local scene, motivating everyone to move forward and adapt to the new normal.
At the end of last year, Huda also sponsored a giant countdown event in Hue under the theme of “Light up the Pride”. After a year full of challenges, the event was hosted to stir up the atmosphere for a better journey ahead.
New hopes for 2021
In 2021, Carlsberg Vietnam is diversifying ongoing activities and developing new initiatives to better accompany people. The “Fresh water for Beloved Central” programme will be conducted on a larger scale of over five central Vietnamese provinces, (Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien-Hue) with the goal of bringing fresh water to 20,000 people. At the same time, all the donations and charity programmes such as Love Connection will be maintained.
This year will also witness remarkable efforts by Carlsberg Vietnam to strengthen the connection between the people of central Vietnam with meaningful sports and cultural activities.
From now until June the first and biggest sports event – Beach Soccer Festival – will be held by Carlsberg Vietnam and Huda in celebration of the natural beauty of the central homeland. The event has already attracted a large audience as well as football teams from across the whole region. A total of 112 teams from seven central provinces have joined the competition, with the seven best performing ones entering the finals in Quang Binh as representatives of their hometowns.
Adding to the bustle, famous football player Phan Van Duc was appointed as the festival’s ambassador, to share a cheerful vibe with all football lovers. Apart from that, a series of entertainment and music activities starring famous artists will be introduced to captivate audiences of all ages.
The event is expected to deepen the solidarity among people and unite the whole region, bringing a pleasant experience for the people as well as promoting the pride and beauty of central Vietnam. All the while, Carlsberg Vietnam will continue to sponsor numerous festivals and football leagues in the region, brightening up its central homeland.
Nearly three decades of settling down in central Vietnam has instilled in the Huda brand a strong sense of affection for the people of the region. As the son of central Vietnam, Huda’s community activities showcase its appreciation of the land and its people. Building on wide-based support from its communities, Carlsberg Vietnam will continue building a sustainable future for Central Vietnam.
